As reported in the Sentinel and Enterprise, a cab driver was robbed on Thursday night and another one on Saturday night. Both robberies were at gun point, took part on Leighton Street and involved 3 suspects (though the police do not know at this time if the robberies are connected).
If you have any information please contact the Fitchburg Police at 978-345-9648 or leave a message on their tip line.

There is also a drug and prostitution market going on every day under the Water Street bridge. I wish that area would be cleaned up. People have to walk by there going to the Market Basket and the bus station, and it’s not safe.
It’s definitely NOT safe by that bridge.
I know exactly the area you are talking about since my business is located near by on Main Street.
It is amazing how out in the open the drug dealing and prostitution is in Fitchburg, yet we still see the same individuals doing it everyday.
I also know exactly where you are talking about seeing I work for the Admin and have to walk from up off of South to get to work everyday and I walk down the metal stairs where the junkies and hookers hang out but they know better then to mess around or ask me for anything but it is scary to walk around even during the day and if I have to walk home at night there is little to no light and I have been followed several times.
I did talk to a cab driver from a cab company (not the cab company with the drivers getting robbed) and they are actually looking to get in on the savefitchburg.com stuff by dropping tips and other information so we can pass along first hand info to the DA and police so this is a major help and start to bring an end to the chaos we deal with on a daily basis.
The “camp” under the Water Street bridge is a real problem. If the city would just bring in a mower and cut down the weeds, people wouldn’t have a place to hide.
But please do it SMART, not dumb. In other words, LEAVE THE TREES that have started to grow in, and just cut the waist-high weeds. The trees now have several years of growth, and they are preparing this area to be an attractive extension of Riverfront Park. Just cut out the brush, not the trees, and the area will be ready to landscape.
Somehow, I do not have a shred of doubt in the connections of these crimes.
Furthermore, I agree with Resident, and with the maintaining of our cities landscapes, it’s a great idea.
Great website! Thank you for your efforts to improve the community.
